If you sell to other businesses as well as directly to consumers, sooner or later a buyer asks for "a catalog with your wholesale prices." Most stores answer that request by hand - copying product names and prices into a Word document or a spreadsheet, one row at a time. It works, until you have more than about twenty products, or your prices change, or you need three different price lists for three different types of buyer.
There's a much faster path, and it starts with a file your Shopify store already has sitting in your admin panel.
Step 1: Export your products
In Shopify admin, go to Products → Export, choose "All products," and select Plain CSV file. Shopify emails you a download link within a few minutes. This file already contains every product's title, SKU, price, image, and stock level - everything a catalog needs.
Step 2: Decide your pricing structure
Before building anything, work out how many versions of your price list you actually need. A common pattern for wholesale sellers is three tiers: full retail price (for reference), a standard trade discount (commonly 10-20% off), and a larger volume discount for bigger accounts. Write these percentages down - you'll need them in the next step.
Step 3: Turn the CSV into a catalog
This is normally the slow part - reformatting a spreadsheet into
something presentable usually means hours in design software. A tool like
CatalogPress skips that entirely: upload the same
CSV file Shopify just gave you, type in your discount percentages (say,
0, 10, 20), and it builds one properly designed PDF catalog per
price tier automatically - photos, SKUs, and clickable links back to each
product, with the discounted price shown next to the original.
Step 4: Organize by category (optional, but worth doing)
If you carry more than fifty or so products, a flat list gets hard to browse. Grouping products into named sections - by product type, collection, or however your buyers think about your range - turns a long price list into something that actually reads like a catalog, with a divider page introducing each section.
Step 5: Send it out
A finished PDF catalog can go straight into an email, a WhatsApp message, or a trade show follow-up. Because it's a normal PDF, it opens on any device without needing an account or a login - which matters when you're sending it to a buyer who's deciding whether to work with you at all.
The whole process, once your CSV is exported, typically takes a few minutes rather than a few hours. If you want to try it against your own product list, the generator is free to use for catalogs up to 25 products, with no signup required.
